Heimdal — Offline Monitoring System for Hospitals and Critical Environments

Hospitals impose requirements that cloud-based solutions cannot always meet. No external network connections for safety-critical systems. No unknown servers handling patient environment data. No rogue AP risk. And RED directive compliance as a prerequisite for deployment.

Heimdal is Nelox AB’s answer to that need: a complete offline monitoring system for elevators in hospitals and critical facilities. All capabilities — real-time monitoring, alarm log, diagnostics, and statistics — run locally in the plant room. Nothing leaves the building. No internet dependencies, no subscriptions to external services.

Heimdal is not a single product — it is a system. It consists of a local server in the plant room, field units at each elevator, and sensor modules inside the car — all communicating internally over the building’s existing network.

System overview

  • Heimdal server — local server in the plant room, runs the entire portal and database
  • Hermod — field unit mounted at each elevator, handles all communication to the server
  • Huginn — sensor module on the car roof, measures vibrations and door movements
  • Mimir — planned local AI analysis module for predictive maintenance

Features

  • 100% offline operation — no internet connection, no cloud dependency, no Wi-Fi risk
  • Real-time monitoring of the entire elevator fleet via local portal
  • Alarms and notifications within the hospital’s internal network
  • Alarm log, operating statistics, and diagnostic support
  • RED-certified radio interface (Bluetooth for local Huginn configuration)
  • Galvanic isolation on all external field interfaces
  • Support for existing NewLift FST elevators and THOR elevators

System components

Heimdal is delivered as a complete system tailored to each installation. Read more about the individual components: Hermod (field unit), Huginn (sensor module), and Mimir (AI analysis module, planned).

Who it’s for

Heimdal is designed for hospitals, clinics, and other critical facilities where regulatory requirements or security policy exclude cloud connections. The system also suits property managers who need a RED-certified monitoring system without external dependencies.

Status
